Backup Games - Why Are They So Important?

The latest video game disc is in your hot little hand, and you can't wait to slip it in to your console and start the game. But STOP! You have to do something else first off. Burn a backup game.

Why? Well, here are a number of good reasons.

First, think about the way most people treat their discs. They are left lying around, they get trodden on, chewed on by the dog, spilt on and generally mistreated. This is because these little plastic discs seem to be very tolerant and still keep playing. The music ones, at least.

Unfortunately games discs are more sensitive. By the time you see the unwelcome DISC ERROR message the damage has been done. This is the primary reason for making a backup game immediately you buy the CD, when it is still in pristine condition.

Then consider the cost of video games. These days they are quite pricey. If you spoil the disc you will need to splash out on a replacement. Unless you have already made a backup, of course.

And what if you, like many of us, tend to lose or misplace CDs? Those little discs can manage to disappear in any room like magic. No problem, if you have made a backup game.

So we are agreed, hopefully, that a backup game is a good idea. It helps to keep in mind, also, some good basic practices when using any games copying software for backing up your CDs.

Most importantly, remember that you may make copies of any disc that you own, but it is against the law to make a copy of one belonging to someone else. This is a good rule. Games designers, like the rest of us, have to pay their way in the world - their talents deserve to be rewarded, not diluted by borrowing and copying discs without paying for them.

It is also good practice to make a copy to your hard drive first, if possible, before burning the copy to disc. This helps to reduce transcription errors.

Lastly try to find the optimum reading speed, beginning with 1x up to perhaps a maximum of 8x. This might take a few more minutes but will ensure that images are read correctly from the CD-Reader.

In all honesty, taking the few minutes - typically only two or three - needed to make a backup copy of that new game is well worthwhile. It can save you money, save time searching for that lost game CD, and lets you concentrate on enjoying the game without worrying about those horrible error messages.

And now there is some very good games copying software available to do the job quickly and easily, with a dash of fun thrown in and without all the technical jargon common to earlier versions.

For his recommended games copying software that is friendly, free of technobabble, easy to use and also fast there is full information at Cheapestwiis.com. This software works for all operating systems and all the usual games consoles, not just the Wii. No fuss, no modchips, no warranty exclusions and fully guaranteed. Many people also use this software to make copies of movie or TV series DVDs, or even to make videos from their video files.

Play BMX Games

Since the late 70s, BMX bike riding is no longer an underground movement. By the first X-Games tournament in 1995, BMX has become an iconic youth culture phenomenon with plenty of skate parks in its wake. Classic stunt legends such as Ryan Nyquist, Dave Mirra, and Matt Hoffman have left impressionable young audiences awestruck with their live performances. These pros endorsed what would later become the niche market for young bicycle video gamers of today, who play BMX games to emulate the same stunt maneuvers as these hailed pros. The video game industry has responded to BMX fans with an outstanding number of bike games. There are plenty of successful video games to choose from, such as Matt Hoffman Pro BMX 2 for Xbox, and Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 3 for the Game Boy Advanced.

It is fairly important to recognize the impact cycling icons like Matt Hoffman and Dave Mirra have on the industry, and why these games attract children who are both casual and hardcore gamers alike. Firstly, traditional racing games require too much focus on reaching a goal in an allotted period of time. It can be difficult for people, especially the inexperienced, to increase their skills and explore hidden features with the little time a race provides. A BMX game on the other hand often utilizes a Freeride mode, which allows inexperienced gamers to practice and increase their level of skill without a time limit, and explore the playing field for fun. Take Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 on the Play Station 2 for example.

However, the other practical reason why BMX games are so endearing is that the rules are simple to understand. This is because BMX games are typically based off of the classic pro bicycling tournaments. Due to simplicity, these games usually do not require endless hours of consistent day to day commitment like other games on the market, which are designed only for the hardcore gamer. Though despite being basic, BMX games provide enough challenges for both novice and experienced gamers, with a variety of difficulty levels to choose from. Especially in Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2, where players can use a park editor to create their own skate parks for endless possibilities that offers difficulty that the player directly decides. Something that cannot be said for many sports games of other genres.

If you are going to play games, definitely consider buying a bike game, and add a BMX game to your collection. Go to your local video game retailers and play today! If you are looking for the perfect gift for your loved ones and they love to play games, Matt Hoffman's example is an excellent choice for a gift, especially if they enjoy bike games or sports. With the growing trend of people who like to play games, people who choose to play bmx games has become a mainstream pastime, accrediting bike games as a reliable source of entertainment.

RPG Games 2011

In the past, RPG games were nothing more than a PC gamer's kind of thing. Back in the 1990s, many Amiga and PC gamers loved playing the genre. Arguably, one of the best RPG games to come out at the time was a game called Eye of the Beholder. It may not be the most famous role playing game of all time but it has gotten a cult following over the years.

As popular as the game was, casual gamers were not warmed into the genre yet. It was considered to be "too nerdy" for the cool kids who were playing the likes of Street Fighter II or Mortal Kombat.

It wasn't until the release of Final Fantasy VII in 1997 that the RPG genre was introduced in a huge way and was considered to be "cool" to a wider audience.

RPGs thrived from then on but have taken a back seat to recently to the FPS genre. Thanks to the popularity of the Call of Duty franchise, the FPS has become the most widely known and popular gaming genre in 2011. That's not to say there that the RPG genre is dead in 2011 as a number of games have been and will be released this year.

One of the genre's biggest releases this year has been the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2. Xbox 360 and PC gamers were lucky as the Mass Effect franchise was only exclusive to their respective platforms. That was until in January 2011 that the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 hit the PS3 in a big way. PS3 owners were delighted to know they had the superior version of the game since it came a few more extras and better graphics. Mass Effect and RPG fans can look forward to the release ofMass Effect 3 later this year.

The other major game released thus far in 2011 was Dragon Age II. Much like Mass Effect, the Dragon Age franchise is also created and developed by BioWare. PC gamers may have the best RPG games in 2011 as the long awaited Diablo 3 hits later this year. The much loved Torchlight made its debut on the Xbox 360 earlier this year too. It was previously a PC exclusive but now Xbox 360 owners can enjoy this action-rpg by downloading it via the Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

Japanese RPG fans should look forward to the release of Final Fantasy XIII-2. This is a direct sequel to the 2010's Final Fantasy XIII. Fans who were disappointed with Final Fantasy XIII will be happy to know that Square Enix is looking to improve the gameplay with this sequel. Final Fantasy XIII-2 is expected to be released late 2011.

The great thing about 2011 is how much technology has grown over the years. A of RPG games can now be enjoyed for free as internet browser games. One of my favorites released recently are the Super Stick RPG games. They play similarly to many role playing games like Final Fantasy and come complete with cutscenes and a battle system as well.

These are just a small fraction of games that you can enjoy in 2011. There are lots of RPG games that are available for you to play this year. If you're bored of generic and linear FPS games, give the RPG genre a try. Most good RPG's provide you with over 40 hours or more of gaming fun an offer aren't as linear as most FPS games. Do yourself a favor a play at least one RPG game released in 2011. You won't regret it.

If you're want to play old-school style of fantasy RPG games then this is the game for you. It may not be as flashy as Final Fantasy but the games still offer hours of fun.

Latest Games Give New Meaning to "Green Thumb"

Everyone is raving about several of the latest games in social media sites like Facebook that are farm-themed. However, not too many know of a better alternative. The "Hobby Farm" is an online game that features better graphics, few possibilities of computer glitches, more player interaction and no streaming required. Once downloaded, you can click on the shortcut on your desktop, and continue playing where you left off. Farming has never been made easier with the Hobby Farm.

Grow Crops Online

In the real world, there are people who are born to be farmers. These are the individuals who have been blessed with a green thumb. Unfortunately, others don't have the same gift. If you don't have the gift of a green thumb, don't worry because online farming games are the nearest farming experience you can possibly have.

Hobby Farm is one of the latest games that is centered on an island where you have to grow your own crops in order to survive. Aside from the crops, you also have some free roaming animals to manage as well as some farming machinery to work. Of course, you can't get anything tangible from farming online but the thrill alone, the joy as you harvest your crops or the disappointment you feel when you realize that your plants have withered are enough to want to play more.

Reap the Rewards

Latest games like this teach you two things: patience and time management.

In order to level up, you have to be able to harvest your crops on time. Each crop grows at a certain rate and needs to be harvested at the right to stop them from withering. If you log in late, then you will not be able to sell your crops because they're already withered. So you have to patiently wait for your crops to grow and if you log-out, be sure to resume your game on time so as not to miss out on any harvest.

Since you still have a dozen of other farm chores to do, you have to manage your time. Aside from your crops, you have some animals to attend to and new equipments to purchase. On top of that, bear in mind that you have an 'offline' life to live; don't let the game own you 24/7.

Constant exposure to this game ensures that you are getting wonderful benefits in return. The lessons and skills you learn will be slowly embedded in your subconscious and will eventually show in the way you interact with other individuals.

The game also provides you with a means to communicate with other players if you want. You can share trade secrets and help each other out and so on. Although you can't play this game in your windows, it does not require a lot of specs in order to have it running on your computer after you've downloaded it. Besides, all of the latest games found in the site are secured and virus-free so your computer is safe.

So the next time you think about farming, try Hobby Farm. If you want to learn farming's every nook and cranny but can't afford to do experiments on real crops and animals, try this latest game and you won't regret it.

Farming has never been made more interactive and fun with Hobby Farm, one of the latest games at hotgame-s.com. Playing these free online games is one great way of spending time with your kids.

Xbox Kinect Will Put Ads in Video Games and TV Content (NewsFactor)

Microsoft announced a new option for advertisers at the Cannes International Advertising Festival this week. The Xbox Kinect gaming console is going to use voice and motion commands to let consumers interact with ads while they are playing their favorite video game or watching online content.

Dubbed NUAds, short for natural-interface ads, the new suite of advertising tools will let users interact with advertising right from their Xbox Kinect video-game console dashboard. Users can also interact with ads embedded in games or other video content. It's a move to take advertising a few steps beyond the old-fashioned boob tube.

"When you have highly interactive people and a passive medium, they are interacting with their phone or their laptop while watching TV," Mark Kroese, the general manager of the advertising business group at Microsoft, told The New York Times. Kroese introduced the ability to use voice- and gesture-controlled interaction with advertisements and other content on Xbox. He said the ads "create a natural way for the user to engage with the TV."

In-Game Ad Action

What does all this mean to Xbox Kinect gamers? It means that soon, they'll be able to say "Xbox tweet" and have the content shared online with your friends.

Here's another example. Say you're watching a TV show. You'll be able to interact using your voice to do things like schedule a reminder to be sent to your phone of shows that you don't want to miss this summer.

NUAds also offers some interesting location-based interaction services for advertisers. For example, if you say "Xbox Near Me" when watching an advertisement for cars, Xbox Kinect will serve up a map with local dealerships. In another example, Microsoft's Steve Clayton asks you to imagine an ad for pizzas or a movie ad that takes you to cinemas that show the film locally.

"This represents a great opportunity for agencies and advertisers to generate new kinds of ads and ad creative. They have to rise to the challenge, however," said Greg Sterling, principal analyst at Sterling Market Intelligence. "It will take some time for them to figure out how to effectively leverage what is a completely new ad platform. It's really all about whether they can truly take advantage of the capabilities of the Xbox platform."

Will Wii Compete?

Kinect for Xbox 360 lets players use their body and voice to control games and entertainment. Essentially, the body becomes the controller. The high-tech sensors learn how players move, how they play, hears their voice, and makes them one with the game.

The all-in-one Xbox 360 4GB Console with Kinect includes the new Xbox 360 4GB console, a Kinect sensor, and Kinect Adventures for $299.99. Consumers who already have an Xbox 360 console can buy the stand-alone Kinect for $149.99. That includes the Kinect sensor and Kinect Adventures.

Wii hopes to compete with the Kinect with the Wii U, whose controller with a 6.2-inch screen promises to drive new gaming experiences and the ability to customize entertainment. Nintendo hasn't announced any plans for in-game advertising with its new system.

Online Text Games: Online Game Addictions - Part One

My name is Lorna and I am addicted to online games. I wrote this article to inform all of you about the addiction issues and to give a few aids in trying to beat it, and to bring you back to the real life without losing something you enjoy altogether.

To some people this topic will be laughable, but too many times we are faced with the scandal of someone having flashed up on the news, having died from playing a game too long. Of course that is an extreme scenario, but your life can still suffer in other ways if you are addicted to what you are doing. Believe it or not, game companies really don't want you to die; though perhaps they are slightly smug if you become addicted as that obviously means they are doing something right, no?

Enjoying yourself in a text game means that you will put more time into playing it, perhaps spending money to better your characters as you progress through your adventures. This is good for a text game company as the more you enjoy, the more you spend and even spread the word about an awesome text game you are playing... but there are limits on what you should be giving up to get your fix.

Here comes some science. Now, I don't usually like science, but this is quite interesting. Being addicted to video games, computer use and computer games (like text games) has not get been given a formal diagnosis as an addiction - something about lack of evidence - yet hundreds and thousands of us are suffering with this dire need to return to our gaming worlds. So what do we do?

Well, recognising you have a text game addiction is one of the first steps to solving it. No one needs a psych degree to understand that (and I don't have one anyway). I fully suggest to you that if you feel you have a serious, life-altering addiction to any game then to see further and professional help solving it. I am no professional, but I have had (and still have) an addiction to some games like Achaea and World of Warcraft. For some, it can ruin their life. Let's not let that happen to you, eh?

Step One: Figuring out you are addicted.

There is no hard and fast rule for determining whether you are officially addicted to video games or text games. Many people will do their own odd things, but there are more common reactions. One of the major signs is when a player becomes more interested in the text game they are playing than their outside game lives. This can mean losing interest in socialising with friends, not answering the phone or replying to texts, and so on to more harmful behaviors like students not turning up for lectures or taking days off work (or even simply not turning up to work).

Did you know the recommended time limit that you should allow yourself on any computer or text game is two hours per day? I certainly didn't. Heck, I can't even manage to eat five fruit or vegetables a day, yet two hours seems like nothing compared to how long I normally spend on text games.

Addicted text game players may also not notice the loss of other things from remembering when they last ate (of they remember at all) to missing meals or eating a significantly higher diet of junk food which can lead to unhealthy weight loss or gain. Personal hygiene can sometimes go down the drain, as there seems to become less and less time to do such mundane things as wash or shave.

The one I have found most common in text game addiction, especially in myself, is the altering of sleep patterns. I have never really had a good one; always being a night bird and usually ending up in bed by 1:00am anyway, but now I see myself hitting the sack at 4-5:00am. I have questioned myself on this many times and I have several answers; I am addicted to caffeine, and also the majority of the text game players (and my friends who play text games with me) are in the USA, thus leading me to adjust to their time zone norms.

This is not healthy and I have noticed the effects. I am tired more often even though I have eight hours sleep from when I eventually pass out. I actually look rather awful when I wake up. I have never been a stunning beauty in the mornings, but now the black circles under my eyes actually look like my beloved man has beaten me in my sleep and I hardly ever see daylight! Yes, this certainly has to stop!

Now that you have realised you have a text game addiction, you is one step closer to fighting against it. Just like drugs, smoking and alcohol it is very much possible that you will never get over it, but there are ways to overcome it - or at least minimize the negative effects.

In step two of this series, I will talk through the first steps of taking control over the text game, instead of it controlling you. Stay tuned (and sane!)

By Lorna Cowie

Find out why text games are good enough to become so addictive in the first place with some of the top tier roleplaying text games on the market today - just remember to eat, sleep and perform other essential life functions as well!

3 Tips to Better PC Airplane Games

Complex PC games, such as flight simulators, can be a challenge to play on a computer. This is primarily because unlike game consoles, with a nice simple controller, most flight simulators require a full keyboard due to the enormous amounts of detail involved with them. Here are some tips to help you run PC airplane games better on your computer.

1. Use a flight joystick or yoke - PC airplane games are very hard to play accurately with only the keyboard to control the aircraft. By using a flight joystick, or an actual yoke, you will have far more control which helps in your enjoyment. You can find these at most computer retail stores such as Best Buy or Office Depot for relatively cheap. A good example would be the Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X Joystick which is about $30 online. Real airplanes don't use keyboards so why would you use one while playing? Always keep it real!

2. Check system compatibility - Today's PC airplane games require a lot out of computers. Many computers will not be able to run the game properly, if at all, with all the bells and whistles turned on. That's okay. Start with everything on and start playing around with the settings until you are experiencing smooth game play that is not lagging. Keep in mind that you can still fully enjoy these games despite not having maximum detail and scenery turned on. Just as long as you have an airport with runways you are good to go!

3. Read the tutorials - Understanding the basics of flight is essential. The biggest difference between flight simulators and arcade flying games is realism. Nearly all of the top flight simulators have detailed tutorials or training features available. It is important to use them if you are new to this and don't have a background in flight simulators or flying in general. However, some games have better training and tutorials than others so if you are new you will want to be sure to check if yours has training available. By understanding the basics of flight and learning properly how to control the airplane you can ensure that you take full advantage of all that the game offers.

It is important that you get everything you can out of your experience while playing. By keeping in mind these three essential tips you will get the most out of your favorite PC airplane games.

If your looking for a GREAT PC airplane game, one with excellent training and unique features, then definitely check out the best flight simulation game online to find out more!
